UniCredit Bank Celebrates 30 Years in the Russian Financial Market
On 19 October 2019, UniCredit Bank celebrated its 30th anniversary. In 1989, International Moscow Bank (IMB) was established in Moscow. At the end of 2007, it was officially renamed AO UniCredit Bank. IMB was the first Russian (Soviet at the time) bank to raise funds of foreign banking institutions to build its capital. Those included three local and five international banks.
UniCredit Bank is the largest foreign bank in Russia, ranking 9th in INTERFAX-100 rating by total assets (as of Q2 2019). By the end of the first half of 2019, total assets of the Bank amounted to approximately 1,316 billion roubles with capital of over 197 billion roubles (according to IFRS). The Bank serves its clients through 100 offices in Russia and a Representative Office in the Republic of Belarus.
In 1991, the Bank was granted General License No. 1 of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and has been conducting financial transactions under the first number to this day. Since 2006, the Bank has been included in the rating of reliable Russian banks, which was first compiled by Forbes, and has annually ranked in the highest reliability group, taking the lead in 2019.
In 2015, UniCredit Bank was included in the list of systemically important banks, first approved by the Bank of Russia. The list is re-confirmed on an annual basis and currently includes 11 credit and financial institutions.

Since its establishment, UniCredit Bank has been deeply involved in the social life of Russian society. A lot of charitable initiatives and projects in support of art, culture and sports have been implemented. In this anniversary year, the Bank and Life as a Miracle foundation organised a charity run «Run for a Miracle» at VDNKh to support children with severe liver disease. The event was attended by about 1,500 participants and supporters and raised more than 3 million roubles.
